Hog Roast Catering

 

Hog roasts are good, hog roasts and salads are better, but a hog roast with salads and a giant slab of the chocolate brownie breeze block…. well that just rocks….

Here’s a list of some of my favourite hungry hog roast salads and an idea of what we can put together for dessert to make it a spit roast banquet fit for a king (or queen).

Salads

Here's some ideas to be getting on with;

Bean Salad - Green beans, kidney beans, cannellini beans, sun-dried tomatoes, black olives, coriander, feta cheese, a little chilli, red onion, garlic & lime

Pot Salad - Potatoes, mint/rocket, red onions (or spring onion), bit of wholegrain mustard & mayo.

Tuna & Red Apple Salad - Tuna, red apple, mayo, celery, red onion, lemon and black pepper

Cous Cous - Cous-cous, roasted vegetables, sun-dried tomatoes and feta cheese.

Bulgar Wheat Taboulen - Bulgar wheat, cucumber, cherry toms, mint, parsley & either chicken or feta.

Club Salad - Roast chicken, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, free range egg and vine tomatoes with ranch dressing.  Then choose one of the following to go with it; cous-cous / crunchy leaves / pasta / deli leaves

New York Cobb - Roast chicken, crispy bacon, avocado, cherry tomatoes, a sprinkling of stilton and spring onions with a blue cheese dressing.  Then choose one of the following to go with it; cous-cous / crunchy leaves / pasta / deli leaves

Tuna & White Bean Nicoise - Tuna chunks, free range egg, blanched green beans, black olives, anchovy fillets and cannellini beans.  Then chose one of the following to go with it; cous-cous / crunchy leaves / pasta / deli leaves.

Gorgeous Greek - Feta cheese, cucumber, red onion, cherry toms, fresh mint, parsley with lemon juice & olive oil. Then chose one of the following to go with it; cous-cous /  crunchy leaves / pasta / deli leaves.

Mr Popular Leaf Salad - Salad leaves, cherry tomatoes, spring onion, yellow pepper and cucumber.

Classic Coleslaw - Shredded cabbage, carrot, red onion, chive, lemon, dijon & mayo. Or a 'redslaw' if you prefer?

Hawaiian Rice Salad - Rice, red pepper, spring onion, pineapple, sweetcorn, celery with french dressing.

My Sister's Pasta Prawn Salad - Penne, cucumber, red onion, tomatoes, spring onion, king prawns, mayo, lemon, french dressing, dill and paprika.

Mango & Avocado Salsa (up to 60 people) - Mango, avocado, red onion, red pepper, red thai chilli and a squeeze of lime

Waldorf Salad (up to 80 people) - Sliced green apples, white cabbage, celery, walnuts and a sour cream dressing.

Wild Rice Salad - White & wild rice, sultanas, almonds, coconut and a mild spicy dressing.

Tricolor Salad (up to 100 people) - Beef tomatoes, avocado, mozzarella, basil, olive oil and cracked black pepper.

Simple Rocket - Rocket, parmesan shavings, toasted pine nuts and balsamic vinegar

Fresh Summer Cucumber Salad - Slices of cucumber, creme fraiche, tarragon

On the side of the salads we can include the 'Fat Pig' caesar dressing, sundried tomato dressing and balsamic & honey dressing.

If none of the salads tickle your fancy you can always suggest your own and we'll see what we can do.

      carry. We can even personalise
      it for a small fee.....

      As a bit of fun we can supply 
      a piping bag filled with royal 
      icing so that your guests can 
      sign the brownie before you
      eat it

      If you're not a chocolate freak
      like me we do 'slabs' of lemon
      slice and almond slice. Just as
      big but not as messy!
